The trees primerilly in this section of the park, the Tasmanian tree ferns Dicksonia altarctica, which is native to Tasmania and Eastern Australia, and Chilean rhubarb Gunnera victoria. Like the dinosaurs, they too went the way of the mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous Period. However, unlike the dinosaurs, remained dormant underground so were able to make a return.
