Pictured is a Great Golden Digger Wasp sipping nectar on a flower. The wasp is native to the Western hemisphere and provisions it`s young with various types of paralyzed insects. It`s sting paralyzes the insect. It then carries the paralyzed insect back to a tunnel it has dug, and lays an egg on the insect so when it hatches it can feed. A honeybee can be seen on the opposite side of the flower.
