Description
War memorial, including a statue of Saint George, outside the Italian Chapel Orkney Islands. Built out of improvised materials by Italian prisoners of war, in their free time, during the construction of the Churchill Barriers on the east side of Scapa Flow during World War II. Not completed until after the end of the war, restored in the 1960s and 1990s, popular tourist attraction on Lamb Holm.
