Part of the Quire ceiling featuring the red sun emblem of the House of York. This was added as a memorial to their victory over the House of Lancaster in the 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury. The ornate Quire ceiling covers the High Altar and the choir seating area in the magnificent and historic medieval Tewkesbury Abbey. This Norman Abbey was originally consecrated in 1121 as the church to the Benedictine Abbey of Tewkesbury.
