He is often cited as a pioneering figure in American Minimalist sculpture. The Olympic Sculpture Park, created and operated by the Seattle Art Museum, is a park that opened on January 20, 2007. It is a unique institution in the United States due to being a free admission outdoor sculpture park with both permanent and visiting installations.
