Description
Pictured is the Gas Works Park, Seattle, Washington, on the site of the former Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant. It contains remnants of the sole remaining coal gasification plant in the United States. It operated from 1906 to 1956 and was purchased by The City of Seattle for park purposes in 1962, opening in 1975. It was designed by landscape architect Richard Haag. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 2, 2013. It is located on the north shore of Lake Union.
