Description
The temple in Sardes is one of the best preserved temples of Artemis. The ruins of the temple are located on the Bozdaß ridges. It was understood that the temple, originally thought to belong to Kybele, was dedicated to Artemis by the inscriptions excavated. The Temple of Artemis was first built as an altar by the king of Lydia Kroisos. The construction of the original temple was BC. 330 was started east but could not be completed. In the Hellenistic period, the names 61 Zeus and Artemis ââ¬â¢were used. In the Roman period, the western part of the temple was dedicated to Artemis, and the eastern part was dedicated to Antoninus Pius M.S. 138-161.
