Description
Bumblebee Bombus is a genus of insects belonging to the family Bee-eaters Apidae. More than 250 species of bumblebees were described. A more frequent occurrence is in the northern hemisphere, although the species are known in New Zealand and on the island of Tasmania. Bumblebees are social insects. They are characterized by colored body hair, often in black and yellow, usually in strips. However, some species also have an orange or red color, or they may be black. [1] Like their relatives, bees, bumblebees feed on nectar and pollen, gathering it as food for their larvae.
