Inside the castle of the border town castro marim Castro Marim is a city on the Atlantic Ocean, part of Algarve in the south Portugal. The city is located on the edge of Rio Guadiana which is the border between Portugal and Spain. At the entrance of the city Castro Marim there is this information about the town twinning between these two salt cities with a worldwide reputation with Salt Marshes and the Fleur de Sel. Castro Marim already existed in Roman times. In 1321, on the dissolution of the Templar Order in Portugal, it became the seat of the Knights of Christ, before its transfer to Tomar in 1334. The ruins of its red sandstone castle, demolished by the earthquake Of 1755, rise to the north of the locality, while the remains of the fort of San SebastiÃÆán seventeenth century crown a hill to the south.
