The alter of peace or Accra Pacis Augustae was commissioned by the Roman senate on the4th July 13bc to honour the return of Augustus after 3 years away. It was officially opened in January 9bc It is dedicated to the god Pax the god of peace. It was reassembled from its original position on the outskirts of Rome in 1993 and is housed in Richard Meier glass and marble structure
