The Aids Interfaith Memorial Chapel, 3. #129278634
Description
When the world wide AIDS pandemic first struck in 1985, because it did not discriminate based on religion or race, it has struck members of all the worlds faiths. With San Francisco at the center of the crisis, the members of Grace Cathedral felt there should be a chapel set aside where anyone can come and feel welcome, to reflect and remember the victims. It is still one of only a few in the whole country. The Names Quilt has some 48,000 panels, each with the names of individuals lost to the crisis. These panels now rotate through the chapel.
