The Weavers Bastion and the old wall that surrounds the old city of Brasov. Blue hour image. #131582625
Description
The tower defended and maintained by the wreath of the weavers was built in two stages between 1421 - 1436 and 1570 - 1573. At the end of the fourteenth century, the enclosure rebuilt itself in stone. Gradually, however, the construction of the walls and bastions began, which led to the fame of Brasov until far as `the fortress of the seven bastions`. The walls were doubled and sometimes, on the north-eastern side, especially, triple, with ditches and waves of earth. Between the walls were the so-called `zwinger`, each mastered by a guild. Starting with the 15th century, under the supervision of King Sigismund of Luxembourg, the first fortifications of Brasov fortress were built.
