Anchor-a special form of cast, forged or welded structure designed to hold the ship, submarine, raft or other floating object in one place due to adhesion to the ground and associated with the object of retention by means of an anchor chain or cable. The force that the anchor can perceive without moving and without leaving the ground is called the holding force. The effectiveness of the anchor is estimated by the coefficient of the holding force - the ratio of the holding force to the weight of the anchor.
