Dama Dama on the lush green pasture #133396507
Description
The fallow deer prefers light forests with extensive meadows, but is generally very adaptable, so that it can be found in almost all regions of Europe. Ideal forest vents feature a dense mosaic of forest and field corridors, with the forest composed predominantly of deciduous trees. The soil is nutritious and produces a lush shrub vegetation. The proportion of forests in the respective habitat does not have to be very large, because fallow deer need the forest primarily as cover, but not as food suppliers. In Britain, fallow deer are increasingly found in relatively open agricultural steppe, where only small forest remnants offer them cover.
