Pictured is one of twenty statues on the fa̮̤ade of the Neue Burg or New Castle, part of the Hofburg Palace, Vienna, Austria. The statues were erected between 1895 and 1901 after a plan by the art historian, Albert Ilg. The Crusader by Viktor Tilgner represents the taking back of Jerusalem in the 13th century by the joined forces of the King of Jerusalem and a crusading force from Austria and Hungary.
