Pictured is a marble statue of Statue of Hercules capturing Cerberus at the Michaelerplatz entrance to the Michaelertrakt at the Hofburg Palace, Vienna. It was one of the twelve labors of Hercules. Cerberus was a vicious beast that guarded the entrance to Hades and kept the living from entering the world of the dead. He had three heads and a dragon or serpent for a tail.
