Pictured is a gold statue of Saint Florian in the interior of the Piarist Church, Krems on the Danube, Austria. It bears his latin name, Saint Florianus. The Piarist Church is the oldest in the city. It is also called Krems Frauenberg Church. Saint Florian was a Christian holy man, and the patron saint of Linz, Austria, chimney sweeps, soapmakers, and firefighters. Florian organized and trained an elite group of soldiers whose sole duty was to fight fires. This is depicted in the statue by a cup spilling water on a castle with outstretched hands from the windows.
