Eichhornia flowers on artificial lakes #135891178
Description
Water hyacinth or water hyacinth Latin: Eichhornia crassipes is a type of floating aquatic plant. Besides being known as water hyacinth, in several regions in Indonesia, water hyacinth has another name such as in the Palembang area known as Kelipuk, in Lampung known as Ringgak, in Dayak known as Ilung-ilung, in Manado known as Tumpe. Hyacinth was first discovered accidentally by a scientist named Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius, a German botanist in 1824 while on an expedition on the Brazilian Amazon River. Water hyacinth has a high growth rate so this plant is considered a weed that can damage the aquatic environment. Water hyacinth easily spreads through waterways to other water bodies.
