Description
Pictured is a wall sculpture with two glass tears on a blue background on a wall in Amsterdam. Underneath in red is an inscription which translates in English to the following: This building, the former House of detention, was used for political prisoners during the German occupation by the SB and Gestapo. For many, this was the first station on the road to concentration camps, German prisons and places where those who opposed the occupiers were brought to death. In 1944, two raids on this building were committed in an attempt to liberate them. The first robbery was led by Gerrit Jan van der Veen. The second was led by Johannes Post
