Grenoble is a city in southeastern France, at the foot of the French Alps where the river Drac joins the Isère, which flows in the front. The Sainte Clair Halles, built in 1874 by the departmental architect Riondel, and designed on the principle of Baltard halls, occupies the site of the former convent of the Poor Clares of Grenoble, founded in the 15th century.
