Description

Built during the time of Petru I. Mușat 1375-1391 and attested in 1395, Neamț Fortress is one of the most beautiful medieval fortifications. In the time of Peter I the fortress had thick and raised walls of 12-15m. The city is known for its period of glory during the reign of Stepfan cel Mare.He ordered the elevation of the walls at 20 m, the construction of 4 bastions and a bridge supported on stone pillars. The section near the wall rises in case of distress. The ditch around the fort had a length of 25m and a depth of 10m.
