The beautiful building of the Constanta Casino in Romania #139503823
Description
At the Black Sea, on the beautiful cliff of the port of Constanta stands majestic magnificent building of the Casino, an architectural monument of great beauty. The casino is located in the historic city center, on the peninsula, in the vicinity of the Queen Elisabeth Boulevard. It is one of the emblem buildings of Constanta. In the area where it stands today, between 1880-1902, there was a wooden construction, a "casino" as it was then called - a place for theater performances, balls, a place for recreation for tourists. The construction of an edifice with functions similar to the great European casinos began in 1904. Initially, the plans were drawn by architect Petre Antonescu, who designs a building whose architectural style is inspired by the traditions of Romanian art. After finishing the foundations, however, the plans are changed, the City Hall entrusting their modification to an architect of French origin [1] (or Swiss [2]), Daniel Renard, who renounces the specificity of the Romanian style in favor of an Art Nouveau style [3] the cosmopolitan influence of casinos of the era, in which the main reason is a kind of shell-shaped demigod. Built in 1908, the ConstanÃ
£a building is finished in 1910, when it is inaugurated (in 1912 the last retouching is done).
