Description
Brusilov Alexey Alekseevich 1853 - 1926 - a native of Tbilisi, a representative of the Russian noble family of the Brusilovs. The participant of the revolution of 1917, the Civil and First World Wars. During the First World War he was commander-in-chief of the South-Western Front. He became famous after a successful military operation, known in history as the `Brusilov breakthrough`, when in 1916 the German and Austro-Hungarian armies were seriously defeated. After this operation was presented to the award `Order of St. George II degree`, but the presentation was not supported by the last Russian emperor Nicholas II.
