Description
Summer Garden - the oldest in St. Petersburg. The cityââ¬â¢s summer residence of Peter the Great was founded in 1704 on the site of a former Swedish manor. The layout of the garden was formed by the 1710s ââ¬â longitudinal alleys leading from the Neva into the interior of the garden, transverse and radial, dividing the garden into bosquets. In the part closest to the Neva, it was called the First Summer Garden, the Peter collection of Italian marble sculpture is located. The majority of the pleasure buildings and the Summer Palace of Peter the Great, which was preserved to our days, built in 1710 - 1712 by the architect Domenico Trezzini, were also located here.
