Description
In 1817, Louis Vicat 1786 - 1861 invented the natural cement by raising to 1400 ð C a limestone composed of 80% of calcium carbonate and 20% of clay. Many small businesses will start manufacturing near limestone sites with this composition in Matheysine, e.g. in Pont-du-Prêtre. The private bridge now only ruins of the cement factory allowed to bring the carriages carrying the stones extracted from the quarry to the factory.
