Description
This is the legacy of the mixture of cultures, between the Spaniards and the natives of Mexico, which resulted in a conquest that culminated in the colonial period. In Mexico, the colonial era includes the discovery of the American continent in 1542, when Spain had absolute control of the now Mexican Republic, until the Independence of Mexico, at the beginning of the 19th century. The Mexican architecture of that es mainly on Catholic religious buildings, due to the need of the Spaniards to evangelize the so-called New Spain. And to achieve this, they destroyed numerous pre-Hispanic temples with which they sought to eradicate the ytheistic religious customs of the natives, which were based on Gods symbolized by natural elements, to which they worshiped.
