A wooden split rail fence runs through a large field of wildflowers, tall grasses and corn. On July 3, 1863, during the American Civil War, this was the site of Pickett`s Charge. On this final day of the Battle of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania, Confederate troops marched across this field toward the Copse of Trees on the far ridge and waiting Union troops.
