Description
The bus stop or whereabouts is an urban element, belonging to the urban furniture characterized by being a public, functional space of social and collective use, of limited dimensions, designed to accommodate passengers waiting for a specific public transport stop to that location. It is located on the roadways, where it functions as a visible physical reference to the existence of the passage of buses. This `transfer station` facilitates the encounter between passengers and surface public transport vehicles. Its objective is to provide access to the public transport system, that is, the facility to enter and exit the system.1 Signaling is the simplest form of bus stop and indispensable, as it helps passengers and operators buses to identify the designated place of the stop, in addition to publicizing the services and routes that are designated. This urban element is also considered as a pedestrian refuge of basic order, whose purpose is to offer the minimum conditions for comfort, efficiency and protection against inclement weather while waiting.
