Portrait of a Green or Common Iguana Iguana iguana Hiding in a Coconut Palm Tree. Palm Island, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, #143508261
Description
Close up detail head and shoulders, of a Green or Common Iguana Iguana iguana trying to hide amongst the leaves of a coconut palm tree, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This arboreal species is found throughout the Caribbean, South and Central America. This bright green colouration is typical of juveniles which become a duller slate-grey colour on reaching maturity. They are often kept as pets although some inhabitants reckon that they taste like chicken when cooked. They breed successfully on Palm Island and are being reintroduced from here to islands in the Tobago Cays.
