Thanks to the heavy rain season in California, the water level of Lake Cachuma lake is higher than it has been in over five years. As of March 28, 2019, it is at 78.0% of capacity. Sportsmen, boaters, anglers and families are enjoying the rebirth of the lakeBoats of all kinds are available to rent, as are fishing poles and related gear. Anglers go after largemouth and smallmouth bass, rainbow trout, catfish, crappie, bluegills, and redear sunfish. Cachuma Lake is stocked with 150,000 trout annually from October through April.Cachuma Lake is a reservoir in the Santa Ynez Valley of central Santa Barbara County, California on the Santa Ynez River adjoining the north side of California State Route 154. The artificial lake was created by the construction of Bradbury Dam, built by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1953.
