Workers Striking Outside of Stop & Shop in Berlin, Connecticut #144842610
Description
On Thursday, April 11, 2019, cashiers and deli workers at 240 Stop & Shop locations throughout New England went on strike to protect their current healthcare and pension benefits after negotiations that had been going on since January failed to bring the desired results. The proposed changes in employee benefits would include employees having to pay more for healthcare that would include higher deductibles while executives are reaping the rewards of a year that saw operating income increase by 24% to $869 million with their parent company showing over $2 billion in profits for the year.
