Nusfjord is one of Norway`s oldest and best-preserved fishing villages, located on Flakstadoya in Flakstad municipality. Fishing has been in Nusfjord since the mid-1800s. Nusfjord in UNESCO`s architectural year -1975- was designated as one of three pilot projects in Norway, for the preservation and visibility of unique wooden houses. Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland. Lofoten is located at the 68th and 69th parallels north of the Arctic Circle. It is known for its natural environment within Norway. Lofoten is known for a distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands.
