Olympic Stadium - Water Cube #147917459
Description

The National Aquatics Center, also known as the Water Cube, is located in the Beijing Olympic Park. It is the main swimming pool built by Beijing for the 2008 Summer Olympics and one of the landmark buildings of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Its design is the "Water Cube" ([H2O]3) program produced by the global design competition. It is separated from the National Stadium (commonly known as the Bird's Nest) on both sides of the northern end of the Beijing city's central axis, forming a relatively complete image of Beijing's historical and cultural city. The National Aquatics Center plans to construct a land area of 62,950 square meters, with a total construction area of 65,000-80,000 square meters, of which the underground area has a construction area of not less than 15,000 square meters, and the length, width and height are 177m × 177m × 30m. During the 2008 Olympic Games, the National Swimming Center will undertake swimming, diving, synchronized swimming, water polo and other competitions, which can accommodate 17,000 seats, including 6,000 permanent seats, and 11,000 temporary seats during the Olympic Games (will be dismantled after the game). After the game, it will become a center with international advanced level, integrating swimming, sports, fitness and leisure.
