Description
The temple at the Roman ruins of Milreu near Estoi. This temple was originally built to worship an aquatic deity, but in the following century it was converted into a Paleochristan temple. Later, after the 6th century, the building was changed into a Christian church. nThe ruins are of a luxury villa rustica, a countryside villa, that was built and first inhabited in the 1st century. This villa had extensive mosaic decorations, ancient imperial busts, a temple, garden, winery and oil processing mills.nThis site was further developed over the following centuries but finally abandoned in the 10th century. nThe site is now classified as a Monumento Nacional - National Monument.
