Wittmoor - lake spiked with dead wood -II - #149954489
Description
The Wittmoor nature reserve Low German for white moor is located in the north of Hamburg in the districts of Duvenstedt and Lemsahl-Mellingstedt. It was used for peat extraction until 1958, and since 21 February 1978 it has been designated a nature reserve. On the dam of the old Lorenbahn railway, a hiking trail leads through the renaturalised and dammed up high moor. Early historical plank dams led across the Wittmoor. This photo shows a lake spiked with dead tree trunks.
