Swans are the prominent species on the lake. They are white, black and black headed swans. Some are descendants of swans gifted by the Queen of England to Lakeland. Lake Morton is home to a large number of birds that live on the lake. They are protected by the City and are at ease with the many visitors who come to see them. The birds add to the charm and beauty of the lake.
