Toms Creek Falls #153980237
Description
Toms Creek Falls is a waterfall in the Pisgah National Forest in McDowell County, North Carolina, near the town of Marion. The 60-80 foot falls begins as the creek flows over several cascading upper sections of bedrock into a near-vertical lower cascade, ending in a small scoop in the rocks. A wide, flat pool area is at the base, located in a gully that has large amounts of mica embedded in the rock. There`s a new observation deck, this waterfall is great for children or adults that cannot walk long distance with bench sitting along the way. This area was once a mica mine, and you will find reminisce of the stone wheels used grind the mica out of the stone. Parking is limited, an easy one-mile round-trip hike.
