Description
Spectacular towers overlooking Piazza Maggiore. The tower, so-called degli asinelli, erected, according to tradition, between 1109 and 1119 by the noble Gherardo Asinelli, the tower is 97.20 meters high, hangs westward for 2.23 meters and has a stairway composed of 498 steps. The Garisenda tower was built in masonry around 1109 by the Garisendi a prosperous family of Ghibelline changers
