It has a large central drum with holes that rotates, inside another closed drum, while water enters, causing the detergent to be mixed with dirty laundry. The drum moves with an electric motor. The most common motors are located behind or under the drum and transmit traction by pulleys or belts. The Direct Drive motor forms a unit with the drum and transmits the movement directly to it, producing very little noise and vibration. The introduction of microelectronics has led some models to leave clothes dry and clean and even add sensors that control time, speed, temperature and have clothing repositioning algorithms to avoid excessive vibration during centrifugation.
