The magnificent Atlas Fountain in the Elizabethan Garden at Kenilworth Castle in Warwickshire, England. The fountain, made of white Carrara marble, has two figures or Atlants supporting a globe surmounted by a ragged staff. The base of the fountain is carved with scenes from Ovids Metamorphoses, Doris and her Daughters.n This garden was originally established in 1575 by Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester to woo Queen Elizabeth 1. Much of the castle was destroyed in the 1650s during the English Civil War and in later times the gatehouse was converted to a family home.
