Description
She was introduced to literature and feminism by Karolina Svetla. She wrote works of lyric poetry and literary criticisms, however, she is usually associated with children`s literature and translations, including works by Pushkin and Byron. Krasnohorska wrote the libretti for several operas by Bedrich Smetana: The Kiss, The Secret, The Devil`s Wall and Viola. Eliska Krasnohorska, as one of the most prominent fighters for the equal education of girls, was the first woman ever appointed by President Masaryk as a full member of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and Arts
