Flat-headed turtle #15605745
Description
The Twist-necked Turtle, Platemys platycephala, also known as the flat-headed turtle is a turtle of northern South America. Twist-necked turtles have extremely flat shells that may help them hide under rocks and debris. When threatened, this turtle withdraws into its shell by twisting its head onto its side. A poor swimmer, this turtle remains in shallow pools and puddles, or moves around on the forest floor.
