Description
An interior image showing the construction of the fabulous Great Hall`s roof timbers. Three wooden arches support the roof using lateral wooden collars. Much of the roof is original and the timbers carry the same carpenter`s mark from 1291. The castle was originally built in the late 1200s by Laurence of Ludlow and is considered to be one of the finest fortified medieval manor houses in England.
