Description
This photo was taken in the forest in a tiny village called Springhaven in Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia. The location is set at the end of a dirt road where a wood mill used to operate. The mill has been long gone, but you can still find remnants of it from the boards in the water and the rotting tree stumps scattered around the forest. My grandfather, at 90 years of age tells me about it, how it used to be one of the busiest places in the community. They only operated in the winter as in the summer the water level drops. Today it is used as a place to scoop kayaks the fish, and one of the few places in the area where you can still catch brook trout. There is a bridge to support the ATV`s crossing to the one of two camps along the other side of the brook. It is a wonderful place to be.
