The City of Arts and Sciences is a complex of buildings constructed in an abandoned riverbed in Valencia, Spain. The spectacular ultra-contemporary buildings were designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrva and have become iconic landmarks in Valencia. The building in the rear of this image is the palace of performing arts. The egg-shaped building in the front of this image is an imax theater. Also, there is a museum of arts and sciences and a marine park, all located in this abandoned, dried river bed. The architecture itself is spectacular, but there are many activities that are available inside each of the buildings. A visit to Valencia would not be complete until a visitor has enjoyed the City of Arts and Sciences.
