Description
Bristol was already in existence in the early middle ages as a major trading centre and port. The Normans would build a castle here and John Cabot would sail from Bristol to discover Newfoundland in 1497. Bristol would become the second port in England, rivalling London. Bristol has numerous churches and the cathedral, built in the Gothic style,at College Green in the centre of the city. Bristol is a major city in south west England, the location of festivals and music concerts.
