An important part of his collection purchased by the Italian State is now exhibited in the new wing of Palazzo Altemps recently opened after an extensive restoration work. Erected during the fifteenth century by the Riario family and refurbished a century later under the orders of Cardinal Marco Sittico Altemps, Palazzo Altemps since 1997 it is one of the four seats of the National Roman Museum. The Palazzo Altemps houses an important collection of Greek and Roman sculpture that belonged to several families of the Roman nobility between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
