Rutgers Celebrates 150 Years of Football #157426183
Description
University of Massachusetts 5th year senior quarterback from Moorestown, New Jersey, Randall West, scans the defense and weighs his options as he prepares to pass, wary on an onrushing Rutgers defensive Lineman Jaohne Duggan. Rutgers fell behind visiting UMass 21-7 in a season-opening August, 30, 2019 football game at the SHI Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey. West had a very productive 1st quarter, throwing 2 touchdown passes. The Rutgers Scarlet Knights rallied and went on to score 41 unanswered points and celebrated the 150th anniversary of intercollegiate football by trouncing the Massachusetts Minutemen 48-21 in an NCAA Division 1 FBS matchup. The game had a historic context because 150 years earlier, Rutgers beat Princeton 6-4 in the first inter-collegiate football game which was played in neighboring New Brunswick, NJ in 1869. To the present day, Rutgers is known as the `Birthplace of College Football.`
