Description
The last inhabited island in South America before Antartica, belonging to Antártica Chilena Province. It is very close to Cape Horn, Captain Fitz Roy was one of the first who searched the island. Main attraction for tourists being the Yamana or Yahgan culture, but also aquatic birds, the geology and botany of the island. There is a regional museum, the Martin Gusinde Anthropological Museum, where illustration of the Yaghan culture and the remains of the English missions can be seen. Many of the hundreds of summits and glacial lakes don't have a name yet.
