Description
The market square in the Middle Ages, the Grand`Place has always been a hub of activity in Lille. At the entrance, on the right, the Théâtre du Nord is housed in the Grand`Garde 1717 and in the next building, the daily newspaper La Voix du Nord. In the centre, the Goddess on her column symbolises the city`s heroic resistance during the 1792 siege. Opposite the Vieille Bourse 1653 is Le Furet du Nord, one of the largest bookshops in Europe.
